Addressing a meeting, Chairman of the Supreme Court Mr. Ramiz Rzayev noted that the event of January 20, 1990 had entered the history of struggle for freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as an indicator of heroism and courage of the people.

False information aimed at creating a society misconception of the taken decisions was reflected in some media articles published recently in relation to the resolution of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic from 11 November 2010 in two cases against Fatullayev on the basis of the request of the convicted which was entered into the force on 4 October 2010 the European Court of Human Rights on 22 April 2010, as well as in an interview to his lawyer E. Sadigova. The articles of several newspapers indicate that the legal resolution of the Supreme Court from November, 11 2010 on Fatullayev, raised the terms of the sentence of imprisonment and that situation hardened the position of the convicted, but on the other hand - because of for non-enforcement of the European Court of Justice he is still unreasonably detained.
On October, 29, 2010 chairman of the Civil Board of the Supreme Court Mrs. Shalala Mammadova met with the delegation headed by the Head of the CIS Observation Mission Mr. Yevgeniy Sloboda concerning the elections to the National Assembly.
September, 25, Baku. International Conference related with the elections to the National Assembly (Milli Madjlis) took place in the Supreme Court with Venice Commission on September, 25.
Opening the Conference, chairman of the Supreme Court Mr. Ramiz Rzayev welcomed the representatives of the Venice Commission and noted that elections were an important event in political life of each country, and at the same time, were one of forms of participation in mass governance of citizens, country and public life.
The Central Election Commission in connection with the execution of the order of President Ilham Aliyev "On approval of the National Plan of Action for the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan" has continued specialized courses on electoral law for the chairmen of district election commissions.

The Minister of Justice of Kingdom of the Netherlands met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court
On August 12, 2010 the delegation headed by the Minister of Justice of Kingdom of the Netherlands Mr. Ernst Maurits Henricus (Ernst) Hirsch Ballin met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic Mr. Ramiz Rzayev.

During the meeting the chairman of the Supreme Court, Mr. Ramiz Rzayev highlighted the development of cooperation in the judicial sphere of Azerbaijan with the countries of the Union of Independent States. Chairman of the Supreme Court noted the work aimed to improving and modernizing the judicial system of the republic in recent years, spoke about the responsibilities facing the Supreme Court to implement the justice, the rule of law.
On July 13, 2010 the Project Manager on Improving the Justice System of the World Bank, Mr. Klaus Deker and consultant Kler Qreer have met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Mr. Ramiz Rzayev.
Chairman of the Supreme Court spoke about the ongoing work in applying new information technology. Noting the importance of electronic records, circulation of documentation and information using electronic kiosks, chairman of the Supreme Court noted the importance of creating an electronic library.

The representatives of the interstate group of the Council of Europe on a fight against corruption (CREGO) met with judges of the Supreme Court, the Baku Appeal Court and the courts of the first instance in the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic on April 27, 2010. The international rules of law and contracts accepted by the states, also questions on application of the European Convention on a fight against corruption in national judicial administration have been discussed during the meeting.
On April, 16 2010 a meeting with the experts of the Organization of the World Intellectual Property took place in the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic.
Welcoming visitors, the Chairman of Board on civil cases of the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic Mrs. Shalala Mamedova, said that judges of the Supreme Court of the Azerbaijan Republic were ready to give the advice concerning working out and preparation of the strategy in sphere of protection and defence of the intellectual property in Azerbaijan. For this purpose they periodically act with actual offers. The chairman of board also noted that more than 20 laws and valid legislative statutory acts had been accepted in connection with issues on intellectual property.
