The 3rd Focal Points Forum of the Superior Courts Network was held on 6 and 7 June in Strasbourg, France. The Superior Courts Network is one of the institutions established under the Convention. The Network currently has representatives from 78 courts in 36 countries. The Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan is also among those courts.

       The focal point of the Supreme Court - Ms. Kamala Aliyeva, Head of the Department of Human Rights and Public Relations, as well as Ms. Nargiz Ojagverdiyeva, Senior Advisor to the Department of Human Rights and Public Relations participated at the Forum.

       The thematic seminar on immigration and terrorism on the case-law of the European Court was held at the forum.  The forum was opened by the President of the European Court of Human Rights Mr Linos-Alexandre Sicilianos, and then the Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights Angelica Nusberger continued the speech. The speakers of the first part were Mikhail Lobov, head of the Department of Human Rights Policy and Cooperation at the European Court of Human Rights, and Sophie Piquet, Thomas Straub and Pamela McCormick. The opening of the second thematic section of the forum was made by Antonio Manuel Abrantes, legal advisor of the Documentation Support and Legal Information Sector of the Constitutional Court of Portugal. The head of the division of the European Court of Human Rights Olga Chernishova delivered a speech in the section on the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights related to terrorism.

       A presentation of the newly created Knowledge Exchange Platform by other European Court of Human Rights officials was also held.

       At the end of the forum, the Secretary of the European Court of Human Rights Roderick Liddell made a speech, expressing his gratitude to the coordinators of the various Member States for their participation in the event and said that he hopes that their ranks will replenish in the coming years.
