Participation of Inam Karimov in the Conference of Supreme Courts of Turkic States held in Türkiye

Participation of the Delegation Led by the President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Conference of Supreme Courts of Turkic States.

On May 6–7, 2025, a delegation led by Mr. Inam Karimov, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, paid a visit to the city of Antalya, Republic of Türkiye, to participate in the Conference of Supreme Courts of Turkic States.

In his address at the Conference, Mr. Karimov emphasized the significance of bringing together the supreme judicial authorities of the Turkic states on a unified platform, noting that such initiatives serve to strengthen cooperation based on shared values and a common legal heritage. He recalled that the official foundation for this collaboration was laid by the Declaration signed in Shusha, Azerbaijan, on October 19, 2023. Mr. Karimov highlighted that the Conference presents important opportunities for initiating legal cooperation among the member states.
Quoting the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev—"We have no other family. Our family is the Turkic world"—Mr. Karimov underlined Azerbaijan's commitment to deepening relations with Turkic states and expressed confidence in the further consolidation of unity within the Turkic world.

The speech also addressed key priorities for modern judicial systems, including the need to ensure transparent and efficient administration of justice, enhance effectiveness, and broaden citizens' access to legal remedies. The progressive reforms undertaken in Azerbaijan’s judicial and legal system in recent years were presented as contributing to these objectives.

Mr. Karimov underscored the importance of implementing more advanced joint projects among the supreme courts of Turkic states, fostering the education of young legal professionals and judges, and applying international best practices. He proposed that future sessions of the Conference include discussions involving legal practitioners and judges on emerging challenges in the field of justice, and on the mutual study of landmark decisions that contribute to a unified judicial practice. He also emphasized the benefits of comparative analyses of court rulings and legal practices, as well as the adoption of modern approaches in judicial administration.

Other distinguished speakers also addressed the Conference.

At the conclusion of the event, the Statute of the Conference of Supreme Courts of Turkic States was formally adopted.

During the visit, Mr. Inam Karimov held bilateral meetings with Mr. Ömer Kerkez, President of the Supreme Court of Türkiye, and Mr. Zeki Yiğit, President of the Council of State of Türkiye.

The meetings focused on the prospects for enhanced judicial and legal cooperation between the two countries.
