On February, 15-th there   was held a meeting in the Supreme Court between the international expert on domestic violence Ana Maria Rubio Encinas who was on a visit to Baku, head of the department of human rights and rule of law of OSCE Baku office, and head of the judicial board on civil cases of Supreme Court Shalala Mammadova, head of the judicial board on criminal cases Shahin Yusifov.
Ana Maria Rubio Encinas informed that she is a citizen of Spain and she works as a judge in dedicated chamber on cases of violence against women of Appeal Court on criminal cases. After adoption of the law on Domestic Violence in 2004, she, as a judge with 20 years working experience, has been practicing direct implementing of this law. Also since 2009 she acts as adviser of Spanish Government in area preparations new sorts of implementation. Rubio Encinas also underlined her support for attempts of Azerbaijan Government to struggle against Domestic Violence.
During the meeting heads of judicial boards on civil and criminal cases gave the information about judicial cases associated with Domestic Violence, which have been considered by Supreme Court. Also was underlined, placing special emphasis, by Azerbaijan Legislation, on applying “Azerbaijan Republic Law against Domestic Violence” which was adopted on 22-nd of June 2010. There have been 70 cases considered in Supreme Court, associated with this Law.
Rubio Encinas mentioned, in order to get feedback, after preparations references for applying devices to struggle against on Domestic Violence, according to Azerbaijani scope, will send them to all participants of concilium.
There was appreciation expressed to international expert on domestic violence Ana Maria Rubio Encinas and OSCE Baku office for cooperating and showing particular emphasis to Azerbaijan in struggle against Domestic Violence, and wished new success and achievements in further activity.
