Director of International Association of Prosecutors James Hamilton visited Supreme Court

On May 23, 2011 was held a meeting between Director of International Association of Prosecutors James Hamilton and Chairman of Supreme Court Republic of Azerbaijan Ramiz Rzayev.

On the meeting, informing the guest about activity and structure of the Supreme Court, Chairman of the Supreme Court noted, that Azerbaijan cooperated with many developed countries by dint of bilateral and international organizations in judicial area.  The highest 
legislative  principles act in Azerbaijan. European continental judicial system is applied  in our country. The International legal acts, particularly the provision of the European Convention for the Protection of human rights and freedoms, a case law of the European Court of Human rights are studied carefully and refer to in our country. The decided adjudications are coordinated with the European standards. The latest information technologies are used in the judicial system. 

Chairman of the Supreme Court admitted that among the republic of Commonwealth of Independent States, Azerbaijan was the country with the minimal registry of crimes. Occupancy of 20 percent Azerbaijan territory by Armenia leads activity of military court to necessity. Chairman of Supreme Court expressed his satisfaction to co-operative struggle, with transnational criminality in particularly with drug trafficking, money laundering and fraud, of International Association of Prosecutors and department of Corruption of General Prosecutor’s Office Republic of Azerbaijan and also he enounced his confidence about further efficiency of results of present struggle. 

Director of International Association of Prosecutors James Hamilton underlined, that General Prosecutor’s Office and Military Prosecutor Republic of Azerbaijan had been the
 members of Association since 1988. Azerbaijan lends us assistance with his individual members. Establishing the WEB site of Association helps million of Prosecutors easily get in touch with each other. 

After getting acquainted with the building of Supreme Court, Director of Association familiarized  with judges’ working conditions and visited the museum of history of  the Court. 

At the end of the meeting Chairman of the Supreme Court expressed his gratitude to the Director of International Association of Prosecutors James Hamilton for a special attention and interest to judicial bodies of the Azerbaijan Republic and wished the best regards in his further work.
