Members of the Board of the Mediation Council and relevant organizations were received at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On 28 January 2022, discussions were held with the members of the Board of the Mediation Council and the members of the relevant organizations at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Topical issues arising from the application of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Mediation" and from mediation activities in the courts were discussed at the meeting.

At the reception, President of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court Sanan Hajiyev made an opening speech, stressing that the main goal of the new phase of judicial and legal reforms implemented in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 3 April 2019 "On deepening reforms in the judicial system" is to achieve the improvement of the modern legal system and that the establishment of the Mediation Council and the implementation of mediation activities is considered an important step in this direction.

President of the Civil Chamber noted that the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of interest related to ensuring the work of mediation, to establish necessary coordination in the interaction of the courts with mediation organizations.

Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council Nadir Adilov thanked the leadership of the Supreme Court for the support of mediators and development of mediation activities, noting that the protection of human rights holds an important place in the system of reforms implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and that special attention is always paid to the protection of human rights in our country. Afterwards, he presented statistical information and analytical reports on the activities of the Mediation Council to the participants of the meeting, and provided detailed information on the category of disputes in the appeals to mediation organizations.

Speaking at the event, President of the Commercial Chamber of the Supreme Court Kamala Abiyeva praised the work done by the Mediation Council in a brief period, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation to develop mediation in commercial disputes.

Justices of the Supreme Court Ismayil Khalilov, Abiddin Huseynov, Ilgar Dadashov, Bahman Garibov, Registrar of the Supreme Court Elvin Hatamzade and other representatives of the Mediation Council also spoke at the event and expressed their views on current issues related to mediation.
