The 2nd Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Judiciary Councils of the Member and Observer States of the Organizaiton of Turkic States was held

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chairman the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov participated in the 2nd Meeting of the Chairpersons of the Judicial Councils of the Member and Observer States of the Organization of Turkic States, which was held in Istanbul, Türkiye, on May 22-24, 2024.

Inam Karimov in his speech at the conference mentioned that further strengthening of mutual exchange of experience with Turkic-speaking countries is one of the main priorities for our country. The current environment of regionalization in the world compels the countries to focus more on regional cooperation and integration. 

It was noted that today legal systems are facing many global and local challenges. These challenges are the deeper application of modern communication technologies, artificial intelligence and other progressive practices in the administration of justice.  Chief Justice emphasized the significant progress that has been achieved in the field of digitalization and the use of modern technologies in Azerbaijan in recent years. Also it was stated that the multilateral meetings will contribute to the training of the judiciary and further increase the efficiency in the administration of justice.

At the conference, detailed information about on the work of the Judicial-Legal Council was also provided. It was noted that the rules for the formation of the Council, which went through various stages of development, were further improved from 2023. Taking into account the recommendations of international organizations as well as best practices, the important changes have been made to the legislation.

The General Secretary of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Turkiye Atilla Öztürk, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanichbek Omuraliyev, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors of Turkiye Yılmaz Tunç noted the importance of the development of cooperation between judicial and legal bodies, as well as in all fields among Turkic-speaking countries, and emphasized the necessity of the measures taken in this regard.  It was noted that through these meetings, the activities of Turkic-speaking countries in this field are evaluated, and joint decisions are made regarding future cooperation.

During the event, the decision to hold the following Conference of the Chairpersonsof the Judicial-Councils of the Member and Observer States of the Organization of Turkic States next year in Azerbaijan was adopted.
