The meeting with the delegation of the Council of Europe was held at the Supreme Court

The Director General of the Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, Christos Giakoumopoulos, and the Director of the Political Affairs and External Relations Papa Miroslav visited the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 22 May 2023.

During the meeting the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Mr. Inam Karimov informed the guests about the reforms carried out in the judicial and legal field under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and the effective cooperation established between the Council of Europe and the Supreme Court in recent times. Mr. Inam Karimov mentioned that the legislation in the judicial field is constantly being improved and fully adapted to the European standards. This makes an important contribution to increasing the efficiency of justice.

Christos Giakoumopoulos highly valued the work that have been done in the judicial and legal sphere in Azerbaijan and emphasized the great importance of relations between our country and the Council of Europe.

The discussions about future prospects of cooperation and mutual interests were held during the meeting.
