Chairman of the Supreme Court visited Strasbourg

 On January 31, 2020, a delegation led by Ramiz Rzayev, the Chairman of the Supreme Court attended a solemn event on the opening of the judicial year and the meeting on “The European Convention on Human Rights: living instrument at 70,” in Strasbourg, France with the participation of chairmen and judges of the highest judicial bodies at the invitation of the European Court of Human Rights.

      After the meeting a solemn ceremony dedicated to the opening of the judicial year was held. Linos-Alexander Sisilianos, the Chairman of the European Court and Frank Clark, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ireland spoke in front of a large audience at the event.

      During the meetings with his colleagues, the Chairman of the Supreme Court exchanged views on a number of issues.

      During the visit,  Ramiz Rzayev, the Chairman of the Supreme Court met with Christos Giakoumopoulos, the Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe.

      Discussions on human rights were held during the meeting in the context of productive exchange of views.
